There are some gluten-free products that simply taste better than their regular counterparts. My favorite better-than-regular snack is gluten-free toaster waffles. GF waffles tend to be far superior to grocery store waffles made with wheat; the texture is thicker and the waffles are far more flavorful. Trader Joe's makes excellent GF waffles - both plain and banana - that are excellent for breakfast or for a snack. However, the true standout GF waffles come from Nature's Path, a company that makes many great GF products. The buckwheat Lifestream GF waffles are my new go-to snack; they can be found at all area Whole Foods, at Kroger on NC-54 and at Weaver Street Market.
As a side note, and speaking of breakfast, good old Rice Chex are now gluten free! It is so nice to be able to buy a mainstream cereal that is low in sugar and sells for less than $5.00 a box. Apparently General Mills made the cereal GF by replacing malt with molasses. Rice Chex can, of course, be found at all area grocery stores, including Target.
